5 sailors arrived at Lakeside anticipating a wet morning with strong winds. Although it started wet, it was dry after the break and the wind, although gusty was often very light and all boats wore A+ sails.

The course was set as M/P, Y, 2, P, Y, 2, P, 1/Y and was subsequently altered so that the second triangle had 1 instead of 2 and for the final 2 heats of 8 the course was sailed in reverse as Y/1, P, 2, Y, P, 1, Y, M/B (all buoys to starboard). The wind shifts on the beat up to "2" enabled many places to be gained or lost and the lulls on the reach to "P" often provided opportunities for the places to be regained (or re-lost(?)). 43 had control difficulties which were solved when a leaf was removed from between the rudder and the hull.

First 3 today were:

1st - R Brydges (9)

2nd - I White (10)

3rd - B Ryde-Weller (18)

Well done to all for enabling an enjoyable morning's sail.

Best wishes,

Bruce
