This continued for the 1st few races - then extended to Mustard - Pink- Yellow - 3 - Mustard - Pink - Yellow - Finish - Mustard - Pink. Chris was on top form with 4 wins. A sunny but cooler than recent (20°C) morning invited 8 sailors to compete in the 6th round of the Jul-Aug series. The wind was nominally NW 11kt, but varied constantly both in strength and direction. Chris chose a course of M/P, R, 3, P, R, 2, P, R/2 and the hope was that either R to 3 or R to 2 would provide a beat. 7 sailors braved the latest heatwave to compete in the 5th round of the Jul-Aug series. With a very light breeze initially a course of O/B, P, O, M/P was set. As that was completes in 5 minutes it was extended to O/B, 8, 7, O, M/P and subsequently B was added after O in the attempt to provide a better beat. The wind filled in a little, but was still very variable in direction, necessitating high concentration from the sailors. Those who kept focused the best today were: 1st -

6 sailors arrived at Lakeside to compete in the 4th round of the Jul-Aug series. The weather was warm and the wind light, although somewhat variable in direction providing some interesting approaches to buoys. Chris initially set a course of R/3, P, R, M, P, R/3 which was extended by replacing P by Y laid between P and 7 and with the wind picking up a little, 11 heats were raced. My thanks to Roger for the details of the sailing. An omnishambles on the road network and accompanying gridlock restricted the fleet to five hardy souls. There was a spirited breeze from the N/NE that, after a little adjustment gave a reasonable beat from 8 to Big Orange. 7 sailors competed in the 2nd round of the Jul-Aug series. The light breeze did little to reduce the 30°C temperature, but racing was, as always, cool and calm, if somewhat frustrating at times. Changes in wind direction and speed enabled many place changes and rounding the last buoy in first was no guarantee of a top 3 finish. Blazing heat and a decomposing rat on the grass near the middle bench greeted a brave triumvirate of skippers for the final heat of the May/June series. The breeze was roughly north and at times provided for a nice steady sail. A long start line was established between Pink and 6 and after experimenting with 4 as a windward mark, Big Orange was used, followed, again after some experimentation, by 6 and then 7.

After some discussion a start line was defined between Pink and Mustard with Yellow as the first mark. After that it was 2 before heading down to pink and doing the whole thing again. I am grateful to JohnB for providing the details of today's racing: Six sailors arrived expecting wind and some rain. The wind was SW and top end of A+ at times, and a lot lower at others. The course was Orange-1,brown,pink,orange,3,brown,pink,orange,brown-pink Roger had a jib tie down breakage and ended up on an 'A' rig, also having several phone calls didn't help his day either. Racing was pretty good at times, the final leg was as usual a good place to win or lose places !

The course was M/P, Y, 3, M, Y, 3, M, Y/1 with the first couple of races only having 1 lap. The wind direction changes kept everyone on their toes and made tactical decisions somewhat of a lottery. The weather was initially fine with a blustery SW breeze, and the mid-morning rain shower cleared quickly and we ended in bright sunshine. The course today was Y/2, M, P, Y, 3, P, Y, M/P and 9 heats were raced. Chris set a course of P/M, R, B, 7, R, B, 7, R/3 and 10 heats were raced. The breeze largely kept up with some stronger guests later in the morning, but lulls particularly around "R" caused a certain amount of angst among those either trying to round it or attempting to cross the finish line. Sunshine and a blustery Nor'Easterly at the upper limit (and beyond) of A+ rig encouraged 11 sailors to participate in the 8th round of the Mar-Apr series. The course set was 5/P, Y, 4, 6, P, Y, 4, 6, M/P, longer than normal, but with the wind strength, 11 heats were raced. The early persistent drizzle thankfully stopped persisting before the first race. The start line was set between the “Yellow Cross” laid mark and the small Yellow buoy.
