The final race in the Sep-Oct series was heralded by rain, but not the strong winds which were forecast. A course of O-R/W,8,O-B,O-R,W,8,O-B,O-R,W,5/8 was laid, but after a couple of heats the gusts kicked in and many skippers changed to "A" or "B" rigs. The rain stopped and the sun shone, but the gusts kept coming. J Smith's bung came out in heat 4 leading to in the inevitable ingress of water and inability to start the last 5 heats.

9 heats were held and the top three were J Bennett (002), J Richardson (43) and R Brydges (33).

The series podium is J Bennett (002), J Richardson (43) and C Wilson (06).

Congratulations to them and to all those who took part.

Race 1 of the Nov-Dec series next week.

Best wishes,

Bruce

Aptly attired for the occasion, five fellow competirtors braved the elements for the 8th round in the club's One Metre series. A mild yet sturdy southerly blow around the course:

2/white("0") Start - ( 7- OB - OR - 0) x 2 - #2 - Fin' 5/8.

At the summit of 'A', or Top Rig conditions, the compact fleet offered some spectacular, if not entertaining racing, for passers-by also, right to the finish.

Cats paw squalls together for.....1st Place - JB #80, 2nd - JR #16, 3rd - MC #169.
