DF65 Results 31 August'22

12 sailors attended the final round of the series which was held in sunny conditions with a N--NE 10kn breeze which included some strong gusts, quick changes in direction and holes for the unsuspecting, making beating somewhat of a lottery or a test of skill, depending on your opinion. The course was 5/8,Y,4,OB,Y,4,5,W/Y - Y being placed north of the end of the pier to give a good beat up the lake. There was no excuse for sailing the wrong course as Maurice provided a board where it could be described. Thank you Maurice. Unfortunately, both the rescue pole and Chris' dinghy were brought into use to recover yachts and failures occurred in rudders, winches and rigging. John Smith's failed before the first race started, but he then acted as OOD for the rest of the series - thank you John. Owing to the failures, only 7 yachts started the final race. The podium was 1st C Wilson (06), 2nd J Bennett (002) 3rd J Richardson (43). The series podium is 1st J Richardson (43), 2nd J Bennett (002) 3rd M Clayton (03). Well done to those and all who have raced during the summer. Next week will be the first race in the Sep-Oct series.

Best wishes,

Bruce
