10 skippers attended Lakeside for the 5th round of the Mar-Apr series. Unfortunately 090 suffered a rudder servo problem and was unable to race, but Maurice stayed and did OOD duties - many thanks. With a mainly NW breeze, it is difficult to create a beat on the first leg, and although the first course ("A" M/P, Y, 2, M, P, Y, 2, 3, Y/1) had a beat between Y and 2, it was difficult to sight boats around 2, so after the first 2 heats, course "B" M/P, 3, M, P, 3, M, P, 3/X was set and used for the last 6.

With the wind coming through the gap on the NW bank of the lake, there were significant changes in both its strength and direction to assist (or not) when rounding 3 and M.

The top three today were:

1st - I White (14)

2nd - J Bennett (20)

3rd - C Wilson (21)

Congratulations to them and to all for an enjoyable morning's sail.

Best wishes,

Bruce

A sunny but cooler than recent (20°C) morning invited 8 sailors to compete in the 6th round of the Jul-Aug series. The wind was nominally NW 11kt, but varied constantly both in strength and direction.
