Racing Results 18-Mar'26

11 sailors attended Lakeside for the 3rd round of the Mar-Apr series and were treated to a warm sunny morning with a 10kt SE breeze. We also welcomed Chris Wilson back from surgery, Nick Tattersall who came without boat, but offered to be OOD and other members who came to enjoy the the sunshine and watch the racing.

Ian set a course of P/M, X, 1, 4, X, 1, 4, Y/X which had its finish changed to X/B after the first 2 heats. This was used for 2 more heats, but for the final 5 the course was X/Y, P, X, 1, 3, P, X, P/M.

As Chris didn't want to sail every race, he and Nick shared his boat. I have scored it as if Nick was using his boat 662 and for the heats they didn't race they were awarded the average number of points of the heats they did race.

Unfortunately 575 had a rudder servo failure, but Andy took the dinghy out, rescued his boat and then repositioned buoys M and 4.

The sailing was on the whole quite energetic with the beat from 4 to P having many changes in wind direction resulting in places being won and lost.

Those who found the most advantageous routes were:

1st - I White (21)

2nd - J Bennett (24)

3rd - R Brydges (24)

Well done to them and to all for an enjoyable morning.

Best wishes,

Bruce
