Please find the attached IOM club results file. Thanks to Bruce for

providing a copy of the results and the following narrative.

"7 skippers arrived at Lakeside with the promise of a 7 kn SW breeze. Unfortunately, it became very light with holes almost anywhere on the course which Chris had set as: Or/2, O, 7, 1, P, 7, 1, 8/4. It held for 5½ heats (heat 4 being abandoned as there was no consensus as to whether we had sailed 1 or 2 laps)!

Tom Roberts joined us at heat 4 bringing the wooden IOM he had made for John Arrow and raced as sail W44."

Top three on Points:- 1st Place - #06 CW(8); 2nd - #85 TRw(10); 3rd - #44 BRW(12).

A Bright and breezy morning welcomed ten able seamen to EDMBC sail race event five in the November-December series. Two similar triangles made up course 'A':-

3/wz - 7 - 1 - 3 - 7 - 1 - 2 - P/Or, where 'wz' = zero/ P = pink/ Or = orange and red.

Flying starts and cracking sailing kept competitors pacing the weather shore, with squally blows pressuring some rapaid decision-making!

Top trio on points:- 1st Place - #30 CS (15); 2nd - #85 TR (20); 3rd - #44 B R-W(25).

Well done all for keeping the life-boat dry.

Owing to severe hold ups on the M27 and M271 only 4 skippers had arrived at a chilly Lakeside by the gate-closing time of 9.20. However another 4 arrived before racing started, including Ian and Andy - welcome to them.

With a NNW breeze which picked up during the morning, Chris reset some of the buoys and then set a course of P/A, B, P, 7, B,P, 7, P/A which enabled 8 heats to be raced (in addition to a practice race at the start). The long beat from 7 to B enabled different strategies to be tried and places gained or lost depending on where your boat was when the wind shift happened. Buoy B was particularly beset with lulls and there were a number of buoy rounding incidents although no penalties were for hitting it incurred as it is somewhat moveable.

Those who managed the conditions best were:

1st - R Dyer (11)

2nd - C Wilson (11)

3rd - R Brydges (16)

Best wishes,

Bruce
